My name is Elin Svenkerud Rønningen and I operate a Hitachi ZW220 wheel loader for my husband’s company, Wiggo Rønningen Maskin AS.
The company specialises in earthmoving, transport, masonry and concrete supplies. In winter it has 13 operators, who are currently working on the development of a ski resort in Osen, in eastern Norway. They are involved in earthmoving and groundworks to prepare for the construction of 460 luxury holiday cabins. The development is due to be completed by 2020.
The ZW220 is used for loading articulated dump trucks, transporting materials and ploughing snow on the roads around the ski resort during winter.
HITACHI
My husband has been a loyal Hitachi customer for several years. The first Hitachi machine he bought was an FR160 wheel loader in 2000.
In addition to the new ZW220 wheel loader, delivered in March 2008, his company now owns a ZX250LC-3, two ZX210LC-3s, a ZX210LC fitted with a breaker, ZX160LC and ZX25 mini excavator.
Wiggo rates Hitachi machinery so highly that he selected an orange Hitachi excavator for his company logo. He even made a tile for the centre of his office floor that shows two Hitachi excavators!
Experience
I am very satisfied with the overall performance of the ZW220. It is strong and powerful, comfortable to drive, and economic to run thanks to low fuel consumption. The most important benefit for me is that it is easy to manoeuvre.
We were given a 13-day trial of the ZW220 by the official Hitachi dealer in Norway, Nanset Standard AS. After two days, we could already see the benefits. Compared to the previous model, it is more productive and faster to operate. It was the best wheel loader we had ever tried, so we decided to buy it.
My overall impression of Hitachi is that it manufactures solid, stable machines, that are reliable and durable.
