My

My name is Emanuele Casaioli and I am an operator for Casaioli SNC. The company was established in 1985 by my father, Giampiero, and his three cousins. My cousin, Giorgio Casaioli, is now responsible for managing the business. It has 25 employees, including five excavator operators.

We specialise in earthmoving, road construction and groundworks in Umbria. I am operating the Hitachi ZX60USB-3 in Piazza Garibaldi, Assisi. This project began in November 2008 and will last for two years. We are replacing gas and water pipes in the city and helping to reconstruct the road network, which was damaged in the 1997 earthquake.

HITACHI

Casaioli bought its first Hitachi machine in 2000. It now owns eight excavators including ZX40, ZX60USB-3 and ZX250 Hitachi models. The ZX60USB-3 is the latest addition to its fleet and was delivered in January 2009.

The reason why our company uses Hitachi excavators is because they are good, reliable machines. The official Italian Hitachi dealer, SCAI, is also located close to us in Perugia, and the salesman is a friend of the family.

Experience

I have used a variety of excavators and prefer Hitachi models because they perform better, are easier to operate and require less maintenance.

The cab of the Hitachi ZX60USB-3 is comfortable and provides good all-round visibility. The controls are easy to use and allow me to operate the machine precisely. I appreciate the air conditioning, especially in the summer months.

The most important benefit for me is that it is small enough to fit in confined spaces, but powerful enough to do the job. It is ideal for working on the narrow streets of Assisi and quiet, too, which is important for urban job sites like this. Aesthetically, I think it’s a good-looking, well-designed machine.
