My

My name is Peter Hassler and I have worked for Porr for ten years. The company works on international construction projects and is based in Vienna. It specialises in general, road and tunnel construction, as well as civil engineering and project development.

At the city’s south railway station, it is one of two general contractors responsible for demolition and material processing. There are approximately 70 operators working on this site.

The main ticket hall was built in 1948 and is now being demolished to make way for a larger railway station. The two separate railway lines leading into the old station will also be connected at the new Vienna’s central railway station.

Hitachi

Porr is one of the largest customers of the Austrian Hitachi dealer Baumaschinen Handel GmbH. It has a total of nine Hitachi machines, including the ZX250LCN-3, ZX350, ZX350LC-3 and ZX470LCH-3 on this site, which were delivered between 2005 and 2010.

The ZX350LC-3 with 21m high reach is equipped with a combined attachment and rotating coupler. It is working alongside the ZX470LCH-3, fitted with a hammer attachment, to demolish the steel window frames of the ticket hall.

Experience

I have worked with Hitachi excavators for seven years, or around 16,000 hours in total! In my experience, they are always the same – there are never any problems, they perform consistently well and are high-quality machines. Few repairs and no downtime are the greatest benefits to our company, especially on a site like this when we have only six months to complete the demolition work.
