My

My name is Pino Mangione and I am Group Manager of Gruppo Mezzanotte in Italy. The group was founded in 1978 and owns three large aggregates quarries in the surrounding area of Rome. It currently employs 130 people.

Two of the group’s companies, ESI 2000 S.R.L. and Nuova ESI S.R.L., operate a 20-hectare quarry in Casal Selce. The daily production rate is 9,000 tonnes of aggregates in four sizes: 0-6mm; 6-18mm; 18-30mm; 30 to 100mm. Up to 95 per cent of the material produced is used to make concrete; the remainder is used for asphalt.

Hitachi

Gruppo Mezzanotte discovered the Hitachi brand in 2009. It has since taken delivery of a ZX870LCH-3, three ZX470LCH-3s and two ZX60USB-3 excavators, as well as two ZW310 wheel loaders. The latest addition to its fleet was a ZW370 wheel loader, which arrived in May 2010.

Our business has developed a good working relationship with the official Hitachi dealer in Italy. We are passionate about the work that we do and we recognised that the people at SCAI are passionate about their business, too. The dealer provides after-sales service to all the Hitachi machines in site including standard maintenance after 150 hours.

We believe that Hitachi excavators are the best in the market, in terms of performance and fuel consumption.

We have also been impressed by the Hitachi wheel loaders. The ZW370 is a good all-round machine and is used to load trucks that deliver materials from the quarry to customers. Its main advantages include speed, high breakout force and low fuel consumption compared to other brands.
