My

My name is Alessandro Schiavi, and my brother Andrea and I founded our construction company, Schiavi S.R.L., in 1990. Initially the company provided transport for agricultural companies, but now it specialises in general construction, groundworks, demolition and road construction.

Schiavi S.R.L. is based in Testa di Lepre, on the outskirts of Rome, and now has 150 employees. It works on up to 20 projects at a time throughout the capital, as well as in Lazio and L’Aquila.

Hitachi

We bought our first Hitachi machine in 2004, a ZX240LCN. It was the first model of its kind to be delivered in Rome and was supplied by SCAI, the official Hitachi dealer in Italy. We bought this machine because we had developed a strong relationship with Sales Manager Gianni Capuano.

Our company has 25 Hitachi machines including several medium and mini excavators, and a ZW180 wheel loader. The latest addition to the fleet is a ZX33U-3 mini excavator, which was delivered in June 2010.

Experience

Hitachi machines have proved to be efficient and fast to operate, which are two of the major benefits for our company. The most important factor, however, is the after-sales service provided by SCAI.

Our newest Hitachi machine, the ZX33U-3, is currently working on a job site in the Vatican City. It is versatile, powerful and easy to handle, and benefits from a strong arm, high arm-crowd force and low fuel consumption. The short-tail swing is ideal for this job site, because it enables us to work between pillars, and to remove earth and waste materials through narrow windows.
