My

My name is Philippe Sardet and I set up my own construction business in 1998. Based in Minières, a town in western France, the company employs six people and focuses on general construction projects, dredging and some forestry work.
We are currently working on the construction of a barn in the village of Marçay. The barn will house goats and a facility for making cheese. Our current work involves digging two-metre deep trenches to make way for the building’s eco-friendly heating system.

HITACHI

I was introduced to Hitachi machines by the local dealer, VSM. The owner, Norbert Morisset, helped me set up the business with my first machine and I have been very satisfied with the service he has provided since then.

The first Hitachi excavator I purchased was a ZX180. In July 2007, I bought a ZX40U-2 zero-tail swing mini-excavator, which is now working on the barn construction. I am currently waiting for the delivery of a new ZX210-3.

Experience

I bought the ZX40U-2 because it can fit on to one trailer with both of its attachments, which means lower transport costs for my business. It is also extremely versatile, thanks to its suitability for many different types of project. For example, on this site it can be used for normal excavation work as well as breaking up rock with a hammer attachment.

The operator finds the ZX40U-2 easy to handle and manoeuvre. It is fast and relatively powerful for its size. The bucket and hammer attachments can be fitted quickly and easily, which minimises downtime and increases productivity. The cab also provides him with a comfortable and quiet working environment.
