My

My name is Rainer Gellrich and I have been operating a ZX140W-3 for five months. I work for Bickhardt Bau, which is based in Hessen, central Germany.

The company’s main focus is road construction and it is involved in projects across the country, as well as in Poland and Abu Dhabi. It was established 35 years ago and has approximately 1,500 employees.

The ZX140W-3 is fitted with a tilt rotator and is used for earthmoving on an industrial site in Kirchheim, near Bickhardt Bau’s head office.

HITACHI

Bickhardt Bau has 58 Hitachi machines in its fleet. The majority are wheeled and crawler excavators, including a ZX210-3, ZX250-3 with an 18m long-reach, ZX250LCN-3, ZX520-3s and four Zaxis mini-excavators. It also has three ZW wheel loaders.

The company has been a customer of the official Hitachi distributor in Germany since 2006.

Experience

This is the first Hitachi excavator I have operated since I started working 18 years ago. My overall impression is that they are reliable, powerful and durable machines. With the tilt rotator, this model is precise and easy to operate. I find the rear-view camera particularly useful when I am driving around the site.

The ZX140W-3’s versatility and high level of productivity are important benefits for Bickhardt Bau. It is currently working on two different parts of the site – earthmoving and laying fine earth over pipes – and I can move between the two quickly and easily.
