My

My name is Chamid Kazakov and I operate a ZX40U-2 mini excavator for Palard. Established in 2002, the company specialises in construction projects and is currently rebuilding the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

Below the entrance of the 252-year-old structure, we have excavated to a depth of approximately 15m and will continue to 18m. This will create space for an additional four storeys. This phase of the project is due to be completed in 2009.

HITACHI

Palard has a total of 15 Hitachi machines, including eight mini excavators, four EX225s and one EX330 – each with a clamshell telescopic arm, and a standard ZX270 excavator.

The company has been a Hitachi customer for three years. It chose Hitachi because of its reliability. It also prefers to work with one brand of machinery and Hitachi offers Palard a complete service – like a one-stop shop.

Experience

I have worked for the company for six months and have worked in the construction industry for two years. I have operated other machinery, but I prefer Hitachi models.

The ZX40U-2 is easy to operate and smooth to manoeuvre. I find the controls easy to use. It is also powerful for its size, thanks to the advanced hydraulics and the engine. The compact shape and short-tail swing also makes it ideal for working in tight spaces beneath the theatre’s original structure. But the main benefit for me is the comfortable seat.

This ZX40U-2 has 1,800 hours on the clock, which proves its reliability. Palard has another ZX40 working in this part of the site, which is fitted with a breaker. The attachment is used on both machines, highlighting their versatility.
