My name is Valery Toloshkov and I am an operator for Transstroymechanizatsiya. I have worked for the company for 18 months. It specialises in earthmoving and road construction projects across the Russian Federation, from St Petersburg in the north to Sochi in the south.
I operate a ZW310 on a widening scheme on the Moscow to Minsk highway, which is 35km from Moscow city centre. I am loading earth on to the on-site crusher, which produces aggregates (sand and gravel) to be used on the road. We are also breaking down the surface of the old road, crushing the material, then reusing it on the new road.
HITACHI
The company has five Hitachi machines on this site, including an LX230 wheel loader, ZX350LCH-3, ZX350H-3 and a ZX180W. It has been a Hitachi customer since 2005 and now has a total of 13 models. Transstroymechanizatsiya relies heavily on its Hitachi fleet – each machine has three operators and works 20-hour shifts.
Experience
I have worked with a variety of different machinery, but I like Hitachi the most. The ZW310 handles well and is easy to operate – it seems to have been built entirely for the operator’s convenience. It’s my baby!
I particularly like the choice of mechanical and automatic controls, and it has a choice of transmission. I don’t have to use my hands as much to operate it, and it is faster than other wheel loaders I have driven in the past.
I also appreciate the hydraulics. The ZW310 copes better and more easily with heavy loads. It has helped to increase productivity at this site, because it can handle bigger volumes than the previous machine.
The cabin is also comfortable and the air conditioning is great. Overall, it’s a high-quality machine.
