My
My name is Anatoly Karpenko and I have worked for Palard for two years. The company was established in 2002. It specialises in construction projects and is working on the rebuilding of Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre.
Palard has 30 employees at this site. For the past year, I have been operating a ZX40U-2, approximately 12m below ground level. We are excavating earth to create additional storeys and increase the theatre’s capacity to 1,270 seats. This phase of reconstruction is due to be completed in 2009.
HITACHI
Palard has 15 Hitachi machines in total, including eight mini excavators, four EX225s and one EX330 – each with a clamshell telescopic arm – and a standard ZX270 excavator.
The company has been a Hitachi customer for three years. It chose Hitachi because of its reliability and it prefers to work with one brand of machinery. Hitachi offers Palard a complete service – like a one-stop shop.
Experience
The most important benefit of this ZX40U-2 is the short-tail swing, which allows it to work in tight spaces underground. It also has enough power to do the job, and has definitely increased productivity on this site. Before Hitachi introduced its mini excavators to the Russian market about five years ago, this kind of work would have been done by hand. No other machine could do this job.
It is a very reliable machine and has 1,600 hours on the clock. I also find it precise to operate. The ZX40U-2 provides stability on this soft, sandy earth, and the cab is also comfortable to work in.
